Finally, a 3 year deep dive update on our permaculture berm and swale project! How are the trees doing? What challenges has each monsoon brought? How has our property changed? And do we plan on doing more projects like this in the future? We’ll take a look at our progress and recap the highs and lows of the last 3 years.

From some of my other YouTube videos I’ve learned that shrubs take a solid 3 years to show their true potential so hang in there, this coming year should be a great one especially if Mother Nature cooperates. Question: will you have to clean out the growth in the swales to allow for better flow?

Love all your videos, keep on plugging along with the house, it’s wonderful to see the progress!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all🍁🦃🍁🦃🍁💕

Thanks! Nope, chop and drop is perfect for a swale because we want to increase the organic matter in the soil. Remember, swales run perpendicular to the flow of water so water isn't flowing "through" them. It's stopping the water running downhill :)
